Official Competition Rules

Last updated [DATE]. These Rules govern all paid Back Nine simulator competitions, including the Crown Classic.

The Crown Classic · Rules & Settings

The season finale — your last chance to earn BTG points this year. Two rounds, individual stroke play, on the TGL Season 1 holes.

Set your sim to these exactly

  • Course: TGL Season 1 holes · Tees: White (6,684 yds) · Gimmies: 8 feet
  • Round 1: Easy pins · Medium green speed · Soft greens · Windy · terrain penalty ON
  • Round 2: Hard pins · Fast green speed · Soft greens · Breezy · terrain penalty ON

The mulligan rule — read it twice

  • Round 1 — unlimited mulligans, but every mulligan costs you one stroke. Take as many as you want; there’s no free help. Each mulligan adds +1 to your Round 1 score. Use three, that’s +3. Use none, that’s +0.
  • Round 2 — no mulligans at all. They’re switched off in the sim. What you hit is what you score.

Practice with these exact settings before you play. Round 1 is soft pins in the wind; Round 2 turns the screws — hard pins, fast greens. Set your sim to the conditions above and play a practice round so nothing surprises you when it counts.

1 · The Sponsor

This competition is operated by [Back Nine legal entity name], [registered address] (“Back Nine”). Questions about these Rules: email a Back Nine team member at tommy@thebackninegolf.com.

2 · This Is a Skill Competition

Back Nine competitions are decided by golf performance — your scores on the simulator — and nothing else. There is no random drawing and no element of chance in determining winners. Entry requires payment of an entry fee. Because winners are determined solely by skill, no free method of entry is offered or required.

3 · Eligibility

Open to legal residents of [eligible states / the United States] who are 18 or older — or the age of majority in their state, whichever is greater — at the time of entry. Void where prohibited. Employees, officers, and contractors of Back Nine and their household members [are / are not] eligible to win prizes. By entering, you confirm you meet these requirements.

4 · How to Enter

Register at beyondthegrass.com for the competition you wish to play and pay the entry fee shown at registration. Entry fees are stated at purchase and are non-refundable except as required by law or where Back Nine cancels an event. Your entry is complete when payment is received and you have played your rounds within the event window (§7) at a participating Back Nine location on a Full Swing simulator. Back Nine is a Full Swing partner.

5 · How Winners Are Determined

Winners are decided by golf score across the rounds of the competition. Players compete within flights: the Champ flight (scored on gross) and the A and B flights (scored on both gross and net). Net scores apply each player’s B9 Bridge handicap — Back Nine’s handicap method that translates simulator performance to a comparable standard; the Bridge handicap in effect at the close of the event is the one used. The competition is played over the number of rounds published for that event — for the Crown Classic, two rounds on the TGL Season 1 hole configuration. Ties are broken by [countback method — e.g. better final round, then back nine, last six, last three, 18th]. Before any prize is awarded, the leading scores — including any rounds in which a mulligan was used — are verified by Back Nine (§6). Back Nine’s scoring decisions are final.

6 · Winner Verification & Fair Play

Back Nine may verify a winner’s identity, eligibility, scores, and round data, and review simulator data and any available footage, before awarding a prize. Back Nine may disqualify any entrant who tampers with the competition, misreports a score, manipulates settings, or acts in bad faith. Potential winners may be required to confirm scores and complete paperwork (§8) within [N] days of notice; failure to respond may forfeit the prize.

7 · Dates & Event Windows

Each competition runs only within its stated window. Rounds must be played and submitted between the start and end published on that event’s registration page, local time at the participating location. Scores submitted outside the window do not count.

8 · Prizes & Taxes

Prizes are awarded by flight as published on the event page: Champ (gross), A (gross and net), B (gross and net). [Prize descriptions + approximate retail value per prize]. Prizes are non-transferable, with no cash equivalent except at Back Nine’s discretion; Back Nine may substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Winners are responsible for all taxes. For prizes awarded in 2026, U.S. tax law requires a Form 1099-MISC for prizes totaling $2,000 or more to a single winner in a calendar year; winners at or above that threshold must return a Form W-9 before the prize is released.

9 · Trademark & Non-Affiliation

Back Nine is an independent operator and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, or associated with the United States Golf Association (USGA) or the “U.S. Open” Championship. Any reference to “U.S. Open” is descriptive only. “TGL” and related marks are the property of their respective owners; Back Nine’s use of a TGL hole configuration does not imply affiliation or endorsement. Back Nine is a partner of Full Swing; Full Swing marks and hardware are used under that partnership.

10 · Privacy & Data

11 · Limitation of Liability

Entrants participate at their own risk. [Standard release language — counsel to finalize].

12 · Governing Law

These Rules and any dispute arising from a Back Nine competition are governed by the laws of the State of [State], without regard to conflict-of-law principles. [Dispute-resolution / arbitration / venue clause — counsel to draft].

14 · Severability

If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in effect.
